IE7 (XP) menu bar gone

I have IE7 and WinXPPro on a Dell laptop new 2/08. Worked fine until
yesterday when I loaned it to a cohort for a PwrPnt presentation. (he brought
the file on a thumb drive) Now I have weird stuff!
When started the home page will not display; however, if the source is
viewed, the HTML is there. I open a new tab, then swap back to the original
tab and my home page is displayed.
I type in the address bar and press enter, the address in the bar reverts to
the home page. In a new tab it reverts to "about:blank"
Under the Tools drop down, "Work Offline", "Full Screen", and "MenuBar" are
greyed out.
The menu bar is gone and I cannot right click to restore it.
I can travel to any link off the home (or subsequent) page by mouse clicking.

This is a corporate computer and I cannot (should not) change to Firefox or
other browser.

Help?

Looks like some admin policy was invoked?
Try using gpedit.msc to check for that possibility
and use it to undo it if so.
