"open", "Save", or "Save As" dialog box default view
I use WIN XP Pro and have a question about an annoyance in the “open “,
“Save”, or “Save As” dialog box that appears with just all programs and
Internet explorer.

It seems the “open “, “Save”, or “Save As” dialog box defaults to the
“List” view to show files. I all ways have to change to the “Details” view
each time I use the “open” selection. A real time waster when you open many
files.

Is there any way to set the default value to open to the “Details” view? I
have searched and been unable to find any settings. I may not be asking the
right question, Tweak UI or Power Toys did not seem to mention. I am sure
there is probably a registry settings.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Force Common Dialogs Open||Save to use Details view as the default in
Windows XP.

Unfortunately the Common Dialog Box does not retain the Details View
Setting, it will always revert to the default List view.

There are some third party solutions:

Open Wide Review:

Open Wide Download site:
http://lingo.atspace.com/openwide.html

File-Ex 3.0

Good luck,

Open Wide:
Runs always in memory.

File-Ex:
Shareware.

FileOpenPatcher:
Freeware.
Patches the common dialog file.

FileOpenPatcher from ElmSoft enlarges the Windows Open File dialog. (in Comdlg32.dll)
FileOpenPatcher is the successor of the famous MultiEnhancer.
