Movie Maker and .wtv-files

Windows Media Center stores TV recordings in files with suffix .WTV.
Importing these files in Windows Movie Maker with Vista SP1 caused it to
abend. With SP2 I can import the files, but no cutting is possible.
With which program can I cut a .WTV-file without converting it into another
format?

Did you install all updates?

In case you installed additional codecs from 3rd-party manufacturers,
try to remove these, or disable them in movie maker => tools => options
=> compatibility.

BTW: "microsoft.public.de" is for groups with *german language* only,
