I assume the IDE disk is a new one. Does it show up in the device manager?
If yes, you still have to create a partition and format the drive.
To do this, perform a right click on Computer in start menu and select
Manage.
Navigate to disk management, select your IDE disk and right click on it.
Create a partition, after finishing that format it with NTFS format.
If the disk is not listed in disk management, check the cabling (IDE cables
often tend to not sit properly in disk or controller plug).
