No more audio

I had audio up to now, and suddenly it has stopped. If I click on the audio
icon in the tray, it gives me audio signal but no sound. I put it to maximum
and I tried a headphone in the front audio socket, but nothing works anymore.
I uninstalled the driver and vista automatically found and installed it again
on restart, but there is still no sound. Is this due to an update, has
anybody else had this problem?

OK I sorted it out, I read in this forum to download latest driver from
Motherboard supplier's website and that worked, though it was an older one
than I had already installed! I now have the red audio icon back and it works.
