M oving Files

I have a HP Media server that originnaly had a 500GB HDD. I have been doing
backups, and storing my Pictures, music and videos. I have recently added 3
1 TB HDD, and wondering how to get all files except the WHS OS off the
original drive and onto the other drives.

Any assistance is appriciated.

the disks are already added to the storage pool?
Uninstall the latest WHS update (KB957825) and download and execute
LZReallocator from
http://vanelsberg.homeserver.com/pub...eallocator.zip.
This fills the d: drive and so triggers drive extender to move the data to
one of the other disks.
If this is completed, you can install KB957825 again.
Some files will always stay on d: drive. All, what you see in d:\shares, are
not real files, but tombstones pointing to the real location, where the data
is stored.

Hmm -

I guess my question is: Why bother?

Why not just let the WHS storage mechanisms take care of the situation, once
the new drives are added to the pool?

What's the advantage of doing this manual work to clear the drive?
