Drive designation problems

HI,

I have a problem with a cd drive that has just appeared in my computer. It has no content and uses no memory. It does not show up in drive manager and the really anoying thing is that it has taken as its drive designation J: this was the designation of an external harddrive that housed all of my music I have aboy 14000 tracks to manually one by one reallocate if i cant sort this. My harddrive has now become K: In the drive manager the J:designation is now no longer available. I have right clicked on this drive and I cant see how to touch it. All it says is insert disk. But that doesnt exist.

Does anyone know how to preferably delete this drive or at least be able to change the designation. It does not show up at all in drive manager.
