startup.exe has stopped working
Just new today and perhaps the following problem has already been posed. If so, can someone point me in the right direction? Anyway, I just purchased a new Dell inspiron 530S from Best Buy and keep getting the message "startup.exe has stopped working" when trying to uninstall a program, and installing updates from Microsoft and AVG. Also trying to create a restore point is a trying experience. The Best Buy Week Squad could not figure out the situation. They did manage to create a restore point but the problem still exists. From my Google searches I understand other Vista users have experienced this also. Would appreciate any advice. Thanks a bunch.
10/23/08: Since having no replies to my problem yet, thought perhaps I would add a little more info. I am running Vista Home Premium if that helps. Still cannot install or uninstall programs or updates. Today I received a code 800A0046 when trying to download the Windows Installer Utility package. Hope that helps.
