Extended attributes are inconsistent...

That is the message that was shown to me when I arrived to US and tried to download on a pc with windows vista OS one chatting program. Moreover, as if it wasn't enough... The vista couldn' t even "read" what is on my USB device!!!! The very same announcement was shown to me. Could you PLEASE help me with that someone?! I am totally CLUELESS
