Vista keyboard problem with mute ON & Off key.

Hello I'm a new member and my name is Bill!!

I purchased a new HP computer about a month ago. Recently when I touched the shift key the "mute on" or "mute off" would flash on the screen. now it happens when I touch the shift or enter key it happens. Has anyone had this problem and if so was it a settings problem or a faulty key board"
