Refreshing issue

Hi Vistaheads....
I am new to this forum so please forgive any mistakes I make in format. We have an HP Laptop with Vista and enjoy playing the games offered. However, we have found that the system refreshes frequently and erases our games - often right in the middle of play. Is there any way we can extend the time between refreshing, or refresh only on demand?
