I just received the gift of a new laptop which looks like the cockpit of a 747 jet...and has Vista installed. I learned XP with much effort----I am ill----and the new Vista program is driving me crazy, even tho I've got 6 "handy-dandy" instruction books in front of me........I know I'm not stupid, have done PhD work, but this throws me into a state of rethinking the efficacy of my neural pathways. It's embarrassing how ignorant I feel, and I write for a living, so I'm dealing with the new Office 2007 suite as well. I'm hoping to find some answers here for questions that remain bothersome, because, in many cases, the instructional material assumes knowledge that I don't have. I'm not a techie--I'm a writer. ..and I pray that my "threads" won't cause all of you to roll your eyes heavenward with irritation....If so, just tell me. I laugh at myself, and certainly have no need to be "right" anymore. But GAD I need help.

same here. i'm a newbie and am having trouble too. i never came to thinking i was stupid though. chill!! we all suck at something. but as you said, you have a PhD,, so you can't possibly be stupid.
