Apprehensive
Hi;
I'm new here. I joined because my HP pavilion notebook running XP died yesterday. The repair cost was more than half the price of a new notebook so I took the plunge and bought 2 new HP Pavilion dv6700 series notebooks. 1 for myself and one for my wife. She has been on XP on an old desktop.
By luck (or design) I had just backed up my most important files the night before the death of the dv1000 HP notebook. I will, however, lose some personal photos and emails that did not get backed up. I did a whole system backup in March so I'm not losing too much. I also have duplicates of a lot of those photos and emails on my work PC. This all could have been so much worse so I guess it's time to get over it and start anticipating my new Vista Notebook.
I've heard the stories, mostly bad, about Vista but I've never really found those types of stories to hold much validity so I'm optimistic that Vista will be a fun experience to upgrade to. We are getting the Home Premium version.
90% of my usage is: Thunderbird email, Firefox browser, Paintshop Pro, Thumbs Plus, Windows Explorer, BitMeter and for all business spreadsheets, Quattro Pro (from Word Perfect's Corel).
I think I will probably be here a lot at first especially if I have problems.
Just wanted to say hey to everyone and thanks fro this resource.
