HELLO- 1st Timer Here!

First time in community....will soon be installing Vista w/sp1 on a new system I'm building. I read here of the fact that ,with Home version, using Backup it can only back up data. Is that true, because I have hundreds+ of photos and music I need to protect.Does this mean a separate backup program is needed?
