blue vertical stripe in the middle of dell laptop screen

I had a blue vertical line on my inspiron 1501 laptop,until I compressed the screen ever so slightly. I do believe my video driver is corrupt.I'm having a problem getting the latest driver update and installing it.

did you manage to fix the problem with your laptop (blue stripe) as i have the same problem.
