As for Kodak and Skype, I am not sure. Downloaded and installed Skype a few months back with no problems at all. If you could describe your problem with a bit more detail, maybe I, or someone else can actually help you.
Number 1 reason for such problems from my experience is viruses, do a deep/thorough scan with your anti-virus.
If you don't have one, Google "Trend Micro House Call" which is an online scanner that cleansed my PC of a worm (so it is a good choice) or better yet, Google "Avast! anti virus" which has a free version that is pretty good at being an anti-virus.
This is the first thing I would try, but you need to give some more detail of your problem, there are, at least, 100,000 more reasons this could happen.
