Reluctant New User having POP email problem
Sorry to be negative, but Vista sems full of problems, with older programmes and printers unsupported.
My new laptop came with Vista so I'm stuck with it, so I guess I need to find out from the community how to overcome those bugs.
Currently, I'm trying to get my POP email to work.
Windows Mail is preloaded but seems much like OE.
I've copied all my settings for 2 accounts from my XP desktop, but I just get the message something like cant find server, even though I can surf the web OK.
I uninstalled Norton that was preloaded, before I even set up any email accounts, and I've installed AVG internet.
I've tried turning email anti virus scanning off.

Hi Nags,

what Internet Provider are you with?

Can you give me more information about the error that you get. Is there an error code or some other text?

regards

Steve

If you copied ALL the settings from your old PC to the new laptop, chances are real good you either mis-spelled a server name, or you forgot to check one of the secure boxes... double check yourself with both PC's side by side!

The problem is not Vista!

Solved
Problem was down to AVG Firewall
Eventually sorted it by right clicking on Firewall, and choosing auto configure.
Now all fine
Hope this helps others
