sleep mode problems

I have Vista 64 SP2. After going into sleep mode, I have to update my network adapters to get my internet working again. I never had this problem before and unfortunately can't remember what exactly happened to make it start, as far as I can remember I think it started after a vista update. I checked NVIDIA power managment settings and my "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is checked, which I read in other forums might be the problem if it is not checked. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem and if you do, can you give me "step by step" instructions on how to fix it.
