Network and Sharing Centre - SSDP Discovery not starting

Network and sharing centre will run but when I open it and turn Network Discovery on and press apply the page will freeze and won't respond. I read abit about these problems and found it was fixed by starting SSDP discovery. When I go into services and press start on SSDP it comes up with:

"The SSDP Discovery service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by oher service programs"

Any help on how to turn it on would be sweet .
