Revert to IE 7

I have tried several times to revert to IE7, but when the computer restarts, there is a message that says:

"Updates were not configured correctly. Reverting changes."

The post where I found instructions was:

Revert to IE7

that post had a link to:
How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?

Can someone please tell me what to do next?
One problem I'm having with IE8 is that an update fails to install properly, so everytime I try to put the computer to sleep it goes through the update/shutdown cycle.
