Updates and different browser problem

Hi,

New on this forum and wanted to ask a few questions concerning my Vista PC.

I have been using Vista for over a year now on my computer and laptop. I am really pleased with the OS, works fast and reliable. Even though my problems are probably solvable by performing a Windows Re-install, there might be another way to help me out.

My first problem is that I can use the Internet with Internet Explorer, but not with Opera. Opera keeps giving the message that the connection to the server could not be made. (e.a. google.nl etc.) I can open all the websites through Internet Explorer.

My second problem is updates. Updates from Google Earth, AVG Virus scan, Norton scan, etc. can not be done, because these programs can not access the Internet. My Firewalls are set to allow these programs to access the internet and even turning the Firewalls of can not solve the issue.

The last problem is Google Chrome. I can not install this browser because again the connection to the server can not be made.

These problems will be caused by the same issue and I would like to know how to solve this...
