please help-can't download

Someone, please help me. I have Vista Home Premium and I can no longer download anything-not pdf files attached to my yahoo mail, not games, not updates to Adobe Flash Player, nothing. Sometimes it will get as far as showing the box that it is being downloaded to a temporary file but then the box will disappear and nothing. I am on a fairly new fiber optic wireless network but my mom is on the same one, with the same identical computer and she is having no trouble. I have plenty of room on my harddrive and I can't trace this problem to anything in particular that I did or that happened. Any ideas?
