Ma****a DVD-RAM recognizes CDs with Pictures but will not recognize music cds

I am new to post and in need of help. I have a Toshiba lap top with Vista Home edition. My Ma****a Drive UJ-850T ATA Device will recognize cds with photos and dvds but will not recognize music cds. This has been hit or miss and sometimes it works. I do have I-tunes and it did not do this initially when I downloaded i-tunes to the computer. Control Panel shows that the device is working properly. I scanned/searched to see if new driver was needed but results came back saying that drivers were most current ones. Not sure what to do. Thanks in advance for any help.
