Media in CD/DVD drive is not readable

Help!

I am running Windows Vista Home Basic on a Dell Inspiron 1525, and have a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L632H ATA device that has suddenly stopped working.

I have used various tools to check the problem and try to resolve it(Glary Utilities, Adv. SystemCare, AVG PC TuneUp 2011, and even Microsoft Fix*it Center). The CD/DVD drive shows up on my laptop, and all indications are that I have the latest and functional drivers, but it will not read or write any kind of discs. I checked for the issue of upper and lower filters, and this doesn't seem to be an issue either.

Anyone know any software that might help, or have any ideas on how I might fix this issue?

First I would check to see if it works on another computer. If it doesn't work on other computers, This seems to imply a faulty one.

Thanx, but that was one of my very first thoughts. I eliminated that option right away.
