Error 0xc0000225
Hi
I've promised a friend I'd fix her laptop, safely assuming there was nothing more wrong with it than a couple of viruses, since she didn't know what free AVG was let alone had it installed. Now I've got it here I'm way outta my league.
I've looked at a few forums and have noticed the error has cropped up for others, but the suggested fixes aren't applicable or "do-able" in this case. She bought the laptop as it was from ebay, with Vista installed, it has no CD drive and she had no disks or anything else that came with it.
So, I cannot simply re-format, download any fixes, and cannot find what others have suggested I look for in the setup. This is the exact error message as it appears (the pc boots as usual, then this comes up):
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, then click "Next".
3. Click "Repair your computer".
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
File: \Windows\System32\Drivers\oyglcqra.sys
Status: 0xc0000225
Info: Windows failed to load because a critical system driver is missing, or corrupt.
Because she bought it off ebay, Dell won't help. There are no discs to insert, and nowhere to insert them. I cannot find APIC on the setup menus. Can anyone help!?!? It would be greatly appreciated.
I'm no even certain if this is a hardware or software fault so have posted it in both categories.
Thanks.
