Partitioning Issue
I am a new poster to this board - unfortunately I have very little experience with Vista - I am trying to repair a computer for a senior citizen with very little computer knowledge. I normally take care of virus and connectivity issues.
He has an E Machines computer with Vista OS. It was a closeout special and he claims from day one it's HD was partitioned 10/150G as C&D drives. The problem is that the OS is in C and uses 9.83G of the 10. The D partition has lots of room. The moment the computer boots up the low on space message launches.
I went into disk management but the backup function gives me a message stating 400M is needed to run the backup and of course he has far less. I cannot delete anything as every files indicates "permission needed" but even with Admin it still will not allow. I tried Disk Management - shrink D to get unallocated space but C Drive remains with the extend volume command unhightlightable.
I apologize if this message rambles - I am not a hardware guy and I am at wits end.
