Random Daily Shutdowns

About two months ago, my laptop (a Sony Vaio Premium) started experiencing random shutdowns every day. There's no shutdown message, the screen just goes black and the power shuts off. I have to wait for about twenty minutes until I can turn the computer back on again, or else it'll keep randomly shutting off.
Can anyone please help me fix this problem? I've lost a lot of projects for my schoolwork due to these random shutdowns.
If any more information is required, I'll be happy to try and supply it.
