Mouse Problem

My mouse (Razer Copperhead) sporadically stops working for a few seconds and then restarts.

I've spent the last few days trying to figure out what is causing this. I've deleted and reloaded the mouses firmware and drivers. Defragged the hard drive, searched for hackers (ccleaner/Spybot/AVG). I'm running out of ideas and the problem is becoming a pain in the butt.

What else can I check to identify the problem?

Intel Core2 Duo E6850 3 GHz
Windows Vista (32 bit)
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS
4 gigs RAM
