Driver problem with GE mini Cam

Is there some hardware that is just not compatable with Vista. I have a GE 98756 mini cam. I went to the mfgr. web site (GE's Windows Vista Compatible Products) Downloaded and installed the Minicam™ Pro Laptop Pkg (Ver. 1) drivers. When I plugged the camera into the USB port windows recognized the hardware but came up with a "failed" notice and the attached error message. Anyone have an idea how to get this thing working with vista?
