MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-850S ATA Device

Hey I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite L305 Series Laptop with a MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-850S Drive. It worked great at first reading all the discs i put into it. However recently I cannot get all DVD's to work and almost no games at all. I tried doing the regedit fixes for the upper and lower filters but those haven't done any good. I have not recieved any error messages. It simply doesn't read the discs, i can hear it running for a few moments then it quits and gives up. Any suggestions would be greatly apprecieated. Thanks
