Yuck.
Woke up to my PC on a blank screen this morning with a message telling me "Disk Boot Failure" Insert System disk and press enter.
So I entered my System disk Vista Home Premium Sp1. and presed enter
I get the Windows is loading files message
Then it locks to a blue screen
Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Followed by some MS text about booting in safe mode.
Some Tech information:
***STOP : 0x000000d1, (ox00000000,0x00000002, 0x000000000, 0x80bed395)
*** nvstor.sys - Address 80bed395 base at 80be9000, datestamp 46671a61
Well I know the nvstor.sys is a Nividia file, but my problem is way before i can even get to working on that part of the problem.
Basically by booting to the disk, I was praying that I could at least get into Windows safe mode. However, I'm hung at this error before I even get there.
I briefly talked to my Manufacturer who had me remove my (2) memory sticks one at a time and reboot with just one and swap out to see if I had fault memory chips. This didn't work. hence he suggested I reinstall Vista.
Well I thought I was good with that until I realized one little problem. If I can't boot to the Vista Disk then how am I supposed to reinstal Vista?
I went into BIOS and changed my DVD to the primary and tried to boot again to the Vista Recovery disk. Same resultas before it loads the windws files tries to open Windows and then blue screes back to the error.
I'm not sure what my next step is. Been on hold with the manfacturer's tech support. But thought I'd write up here to see if anyone had any ideas on how I can get into my PC to beigin the driver resoltion troubleshooting.
Thanks in advance,
Rob
Update: Ok I found that if I continue hit F8 during the boot sequence I can select the drive with my Vista dvd. Then when I get to the "windows is loading files" screen I keep hitting F8 till the end of the loading and 1 out of 10 times it does get me to the safe mode selector.
I select safe mode. It appears to load until it gets to a file called disk.sys drivers then it hangs. Keeping at it
