USB mouse or Keyboard can't wake PC from Standby
I had this problem recently, first reckoned it was a Vista problem but the solution sure wasn't.
Every time the inactivity timer would turn off the monitor, only way back into action was killing the PC by pushing the power button for 8+ seconds.
I tried any setting I could find in the Power management Control Panel but to no avail. Turns out, when the monitor was shut off, the monitor's integrated USB Hub was also shut off. Moving the mouse and keyboard to the USB ports on the PC itself fixed the problem. I left the WLAN USB stick in the monitor USB hub, figuring it would be OK. I was wrong. No matter how long I waited after reactivating the monitor, the integrated USB Hub wouldn't turn on. So now all USB devices are directly connected to the PC.
The monitor is a Dell 19" LCD - don't know the exact model right now since I'm not writing this from home.
