USB Device Not Recognized- Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse

Good evening. I am at my wits end. For the last week, my wireless mouse has had erratic performance. Sometimes it'll work fine for hours. Other times it won't work at all and I'll get a warning which says "USB Device not recognized".

My copy of Vista Home 32 bit is up-to-date. I have the latest Intellipoint drivers installed. Other USB devices work fine in the ports. I've deleted INFCACHE1 about a dozen times. I've googled countless solutions and none of them work. Can you help me please?
