Since SP1, random programs/hardware stopped responding
I have an HP pavillion Dv6000, the dv6629 model specifically. I have an Intel dual core processor, 2 GB ram, running Vista Home Basic which came on my laptop. I was having issues with Vista randomly freezing and shutting down about a month ago, after installing some individual Visa updates. Since then I have decided to back up everything and install SP1. This turned out to be a disaster.

After installing SP1 (Yesterday) my Card Reader stopped responding three times, my cd/dvd drive stopped responding once and my speakers and touch buttons for my speakers stopped reponding once. In order to get them working again, I have to do a hard shut down and restart the computer. There has been no correlation between this problem and other functions on my computer (I am not running programs with lots of graphics, or antying that is a system drainer). It is completely random, or so it seems.

All of my drivers are up to date, my updates are up to date, software is up to date. I installed SP1 according to the instructions and had my certified friend help make sure everything was going according to planned, so I am not sure where this issue is coming from. I am dreading what is to come if this happened after simply one day. This is in addition to a bunch of other issues that I had before the updates. Weee!

Any suggestions/remedies?

-Heather
