Hi,
Last night my mouse was working as normal. I shut down the pc and today when i turned it on the mouse wasnt responding. The lights on the mouse were on but the cursor etc would not move. I think there may have been an update last night? Possibly something in the update has corrupted something. I am using a Sietek GM3200 Mouse.
I tried reinstalling the mouse in a different USB port. It would not install - the bubble came up in the bottom right corner saying "Installing drivers" Then i was told it failed to install properly. I thought maybe the mouse had a problem but i tried with a new mouse and it did not install either.
Using the keyboard which IS still working i system restored to a few days ago. The mouse then worked at the login screen but when i actually logged onto the user the mouse was once again not working. I'm sure it is not a problem with the mouse because i used it in another PC and it worked perfectly.
I then installed the newest Sietek drivers for the mouse but still the same problem.
Next, i installed a hotfix from Microsoft (
Error message when you try to install a new hardware device in Windows Vista: "Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device") But i was still having the problem.
I feel like i've tried everything but still can't get it fixed. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions please post.
Edit: Forgot to add that i am using Windows Vista 64 bit
