Using 2 cards, slow loading
I was wondering if anyone had any tips regarding my issue. I have an MSI HD 4850 running a 22" LCD 1680 X 1050 screen and an ASUS HD 3450 running a 19" CRT 768 X 1024 (eventually 2 20" LCD's). Games work great on the 22" and things are fine on both screens. However, I almost always use sleep mode now because a reboot or cold start seems to take forever since adding the second video card. After a much longer start-up the desktop comes up I have to wait an additional 30 seconds before anything will work. My 75 Gb raptor is working full spead ahead for that 30 seconds or so and then finally everything works just fine. I wonder if I have done something wrong in set up that could be better so this extra long boot time would go back to the much faster booting times I had before adding the HD4850 and reconfiguring the IGP to disabled. My system is: V.H.P. 64 on a ASUS 790GX MB (3 PCIe slots)/9850BE/4Gb 1066/HD 4850/HD 3450/ 75Gb WD Raptor-OS only / 2 Seagate 500Gb. I know people are wondering why I don't just use the very capable IGP to run the lower res monitors, but I was thinking that since I already have the 3450 which is passively cooled ( it doesn't even get warm to touch with my 140MM side fan blowing on both video cards - stays below 36C according to CCC) that the north bridge chipset would run much cooler not having to do triple duty as a GPU too and thus would stay cooler and perhaps increase performance for its other tasks! Anyone else done this?
