shutting down fan on video card Geforce 8800GT 512 DDR3
I have a new system in an Antec tower case model 182, tower has 3 fan, front, rear and on top. specs are roughly Intel Core 2 Quadcore 2.4 GhZ, Asus Commando motherboard, Geforce 8800 GT 512 DDR 3, 5.1 soundcrad,...
My question is this: all fans are silent as a mouse andthe case is very well insolated, but the fan on my video card ismaking noice like hell!! I have been adviced to simply disconnect the fan on my videocard and rely on my other fans!! Any suggestion or experiences?

Before you unplug your graphic card's fan I would first check two things. First make sure your case houses and has a steady and good air flow. The other would be to see if the fan is not gunked up with dust and blow it out. It could be possible your fan is "broken" too. But if you are looking to lower the noise and want no fan, you can buy fanless heat sinks for graphic cards. You want to have some kind of heat disbursement on your graphic card to keep it from overheating and "melting down."
