Climate Change Killing America's Trees at Ever Faster Rates
North America's trees are dying at faster and faster rates, and the most likely culprit is climate change, according to a study in Science. The combination of drought stress and insect attacks has even pristine old-growth forests suffering. Losing old trees could release more CO2 into the atmosphere, causing further warming.
