Help! My wallet is stolen

Hi,

I know that this is not going to help me right now as I am already a victim of theft. My wallet has been stolen and I have lost all my important documents that even included my financial details. I fear that they may be used to make my accounts drain. I have already taken the necessary steps for this but this is going to be a real danger in future as it is sometimes too late and by that time everything is gone. I wanted to know that if there are any pre-steps that we can take in case of wallet theft?

the only pre-emptive steps one can take in this case is to..

1. Deal with financial institutions that recognise that theft is more common and have insurance against it and therefore can refund any money taken from your accounts.

2. Dont bring important information out with you in public. May seem obvious, but you never know!

3. I keep important info like account numers etc.. on my phone.. I may put in a contact with an alias for the bank name and make up a number that has the pin or a/c number contained in it. ( If anyone who reads this and wants to get my info I will gladly share half of what they can get out of my accounts... that will mean that half my debts will be paid off... )
