flight simulator and windows vista aero

Hi folks first time for me . Doe anyone know if there is a patch to stop my otherwise hugely capable computer switching to vista basic when I load FSX .Posts in feb 2007 indicated some thing may be on the way . I've just bought an intel 2 duo cpu with 3.00GHz 4.00 GB ram and a nvidia 8800gt so I'm pretty sure its not the machine .
