I have Vista Business, and I use MS Word extensively. Very often, when I try to open a file, I get the message that Windows cannot find the file. Then I try it again, and this time it opens with no problem. This happens in several different environments, including:
1. When I'm trying to open a file via Explorer
2. When I'm opening an Outlook attachment that is a Word document
3. When I open Word, go to "Recent Documents" and click on one of them.
4. When I try to open a 'recent document" as listed on the Start Menu "Recent items" button.
5. I think this may happen with Excel files also, but I seldom open them, and cannot say for sure.

However, it does not always happen. Oftentimes I try to open a file via one of the above methods and it opens with no problem. I have not been able to isolate the exact conditions under which the file does or does not open. Thinking about the problem so precisely for this post, however, has caused me to decide to begin logging each time I open a file, and the circumstances. Maybe in a couple of days I can give a more precise description of the circumstances.

Thanks for your help.

Frustration, frustration and more frustration. I have not been able to burn a data disk with Vista that works in anything.
here is what I do so tell me what is wrong:
-Insert new CDR
-from dilaog box select burn files to data disk
-burn disk (i have no other options than Live File system. Mastering is not an option although the instructions say it would be)
-drad files to burn list
-then it formats the disk and burns data
-after burning I check that data is there and it is, I can open files ok.
-pop disk out....it tells me to wait till the disk is "finalised" so that is can be played on other computers. this is where things go wrong. the files that were the before are no longr visible and the disk will not play in anything.
-I try to Master format the disk by burning one more file and close it. I can not burn more files, the chostly "you have files to burn" appears in the bottom right corner but clicking on it is not doing anything and same result if I want manually burn pending files from Exlporer, nothing happens and the disk is useless.
So whwere is the problem??????

Hi All,

I have a Vista 32 Ultimate environment that I migrated from an XPS M1730 to an Alienware M17x. Everything is working great except for the bluetooth detection. It seems that despite my bluetooth adapters (internal card and a USB dongle [for testing]) being discovered and installed by the OS, both sets of bluetooth drivers (for each BT device--installed and tested independently) inevitably tell me they're not present, despite their being visible in the device manager.

I wasn't using bluetooth when I lived on the M1730, and I used the system-specific Fn+F2 to switch off bluetooth services. Because the M1730 died and was replaced with the current M17x by Dell, I don't have any way of putting the drive back in the old system, hitting Fn+F2 again to re-enable bluetooth services on that device, and then putting it back in the M17x again to see if it worked.

What I'd like to know is this. When I hit Fn+F2 on the old system, what changes would have been made in the registry that would have turned off or disabled all bluetooth adapters attached to the system? I'd like to find it and use Regedit to switch it back on.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hallo Leute
Danke

I am having trouble running copies of Windows System 32 commands (e.g., netstat, nbtstat, arp, etc.) that I put in a newly created directory. I can run the native commands from any other directory, but I cannot run these commands from the newly created directory (containing the copied commands). Although I can run cmd.exe from the new directory, when I enter the 'netstat', 'arp', or other commands, nothing happens. It seems to me as though the system is getting confused between the copied commands and the native commands. Any suggestions? I tried this on another Vista computer with the same result.

So, I started to have a little problems with this Runtime error. i first found out about it when i downloaded a new movie and carelessly try'ed to open the .Xvid movie. I received an Microsoft Visual C++ runtime Error from Program : C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE R6025 - Pure Virtual Function Call.

When i click OK, it crashes the desktop and it takes a while to reboot and once its done the runtime error comes back and keeps popping on no matter what i do.
So now i am in a pickle situation, what to do? Any of you had/have exact the same kinda problems or does anyone have an idea of where i could start to try to fix this problem?
