Just by chance, if the other two computers are running Windows XP, try this:

Check the network properties list in the WinXP systems for a component called
the
Link-Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder. If the LLTD Responder component
is not installed on the Windows XP-based computers they most likely won't be
seen in Vista's Network Map.

Here's a link to an MS fix for the WinXP systems. Note, if they're up to SP3,
the
readily downloadable version (fix v5) probably won't to anything but say that
it's not needed, so then simply request the hotfix patch (fix v6) and apply it
to the
WinXP-SP3 systems.

You must request the hotfix from MS. The how-to information is contained within
the KB article. It will be supplied as a zip file with a time limited password.
After you extract the hotfix patch, simply run it in place on each Win XP
computer.

Good luck!
> When I select Network icon on my desktop in Office Computer (name of one of my
> computers) so that I can see the other computers on my Network system, they
> are not visible including Office Computer.
> I have 3 computers at home. I can see all computers on the other two
> computers. I am using MSHOME as my workgroup and all computers are set for
> this.
> I believe there may be a problem in the registry and not quite certain where
>
> All computers can communicate with each other as an example when I am synching
Then set the permission and security of the Guest user as Read/Write
permission.
Q: Why it changed? I do not know, can be a mistaken click, or a change
somewhere that created a chain reaction.
In my work with people many times why is important? (Big part of therapy is
the quest to why?) . Contrary to what Sci-Fi movies try to tell us,
computers are just dumb machines. Given the constrains of volunteer help
over the Internet, I rather try to solve the problem then losing time on
why. :D
> Thanks for both suggestions but...
>
> The guest account is turned on.
>
> I tried setting up both PCs with identical user name and password and this
> did not work either.
>
> To re-iterate, the sharing works - I can see the folder and read the
> documents in the folder across the network, but it appears to be a
> permissions issue - where I am not allowed to move documents into the
> folder.
> Also, this was working a few days ago - I was allowed to move a document
> into the folder - but a setting appears to have been changed which has
> resulted in lesser sharing permissions.
>> >I want to be able to move a file across my home network (both PCs are
>> >Vista).
>> > I have shared the destination folder with "Everyone" to be a co-owner.
>> > I
>> > do
>> > not have passwords set up.
>> >
>> > I can "see" the destination folder across the network and can open
>> > documents
>> > in it, but it will not allow me to move files into it. The weird thing
>> > is, I
>> > encountered this for the first time a couple of days ago. The folder
>> > was
>> > shared, but I could not move a file into it. That was when I looked
>> > into
>> > sharing and realized that I had to change permission lever to
>> > "co-owner"
>> > in
>> > order to create documents. Once I updated the sharing, I was allowed
>> > to
>> > move
>> > the file. However, today I am not allowed to perform the very same
>> > action; I
>> > get "Destination Folder Access Denied, you need permission to perform
>> > this
>> > action".
>> >
>> >
>> >
Hi:

I know that I have addressed this posting to some Vista Newsgroups even
though my computer in question is a Toshiba L455-S5980 running Windows 7
Home Premium, but hopefully someone can help me or direct me otherwise.

I have a wireless network with a Linksys WRT160N router connected to a
Sony desktop running XP MCE(2005). In addition, I have another Toshiba
laptop running XP Home Edition.

With the new Win7 laptop in the Network I can see all 3 computers, as well
as access files in both the XP computers. However, I cannot access any of
the Win 7 files from the XP computers. I also have tried to share an HP
Officejet 6110 with the Win 7 laptop, but when I try to Add Printer, which I
can see the name of with the Wizard, I get an error notice that access is
denied.

The XP computers Workgroup name is MSHOME; however the Win 7 laptop was
named WORKGROUP by default, but I changed this name to MHOME where all 3
computers now have the same Workgroup name,

If anyone can assist me in establishing both file sharing of the Win 7
laptop and adding the sharing of printer I would be most appreciative.

Thanks,
I've also got a Dell notebook (Vista) that exhibits the same problem.
I recently upgraded it to Win7, but have not tried connecting to the
community centre since the upgrade.
hi. i own Windows Vista Home Premium 32..
I am trying to connnect my XBOX to XBOXLive trough my Laptop, I have
followed the steps everyone online has given me, however I am having a
problem bridging my Local Network and my Wireless Connection
Network...When I try to Bridge them this message shows up...
"To create a Network Bridge, You must select at least 2 LAN or High
Speed Internet Connections that are not being used by Internet
Connection Settings"

Can someone help me solve this problem? usually my friends connect to
XBOXLive this way but their computer never makes a problem with them
Bridging the etworks...
Thanks in advance...
> Hi,
>
> Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
>
> On Win XP there was a tick box under folder options view tab to
> enable/disable automatic searching for network folders and printers.
> I cannot
> find the equivalent for this in Vista Business or Vista Ultimate.
>
> Does anyone know how to do this in Vista?

In XP I used to control this by setting
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced\NoNetCrawling
to 1. I don't know if that setting still applies to Vista or not, but
might be worth a try.
That is a Acronis True Image Backup Archive Explorer. Acronis True Image
10 is on that pc. Should this show up on the network map? It not, how can
I determine what the unknown device is?

Hi,

I'm trying to maintain a connection to two shares (including a printer) on a
home network. Is there a way to make Vista Home Premium remember network
passwords so I do not have to re-enter them every time I re-start my
computer. I have tried checking the remember password option but it does
not do anything. I have read elsewhere that Vista Home Premium -
specifically - doesn't remember user id's/passwords to network shares. Is
this true?

Thanks, Tom
What if Windows logon Credential is greyed out beacuse it's Vista Home
Premium? At least that's the only reason I can think it's greyed out. ...
