"bought from zune".

However, the comment field cannot be edited. In fact none of the values in
the details tab can be edited. When compared to other files that I can edit
the comment field, this song file has an additional field called "protected"
and is set to yes.

I already checked and changed the file security so that I have all the
permissions (delete, rename, ...).

How can I edit the comment field?

>>Using a laptop with pre-installed Windows Vista and upgrading to Windows
>>7.
>>Next time a complete recovery is necessary I'll save a lot of time going
>>directly from recovery to Windows 7 upgrade, Besides I plan to make an
>>image backup. Know it's not the right place to ask, however many is
>>upgrading these days needing a complete backup before upgrade to Windows
>>7.
>>Any pro/cons Norton Ghost 15.0 http://www.symantec.com/norton/ghost versus
>>Acronis 2010 http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing...cts/trueimage/ ?
>>>
> I have a friend that LOVES Norton Ghost, I have never personally been
> able to make it do what I want it to do. Acronis however works
> perfectly for me! I had a laptop I was working on with a bad hard
> drive, I made an image and after putting in the new drive, booting
> from the boot disk Acronis made it restored the image to the new drive
> and everything was perfect!! I highly recommend it!!!

Because of your recommandation I downloaded Acronis 2010 30 days free trial.
Unfortunately I ran into problems with hanging windows and programs and had
to re-boot and use safe mode in order to go again. The problems disappeared
after uninstallation and when Acronis 2010 was reinstalled the problems went
back. So unfortunately I can't use it...
Others have reported problems with Acronis 2010, please see selected
comments below:

'I have installed Acronis 2010 Home on Vista 64. It hangs the recycle bin
when right clicked. Also explorer hangs and then crashes. when accessed. I
have uninstalled the program, and everything is fine again. When i reinstall
the program, it starts hanging and crashing again. I have unistalled it a
second time. I have run windows Live and everything is fine and up to date'

'Acronis True Image Home works well (been using it since ver 9, now using
2009 - works with Win 7) as long as you stick with the basics and forget the
bells and whistles they keep adding on. Don't use the Secure Zone (no need
to nowadays) and don't activate the Startup Recovery Manager. The Try &
Decide feature can cause problems and there are other ways to do this very
easily.
I use the bootable Rescue CD to make all Backup Images and do all Recovery
functions.
Their official forum is a wealth of information provided by other forum
members - the replies from the official support people are usually canned
and often useless.'

'Just downloaded to try Acronis 2010 and after installing this software it
asked for reboot and my system never comes up.. Even in Safe mode it hangs
at mup.sys ,, what kind of recovery software is this? I will never come back
to this site.. I posted so that others wont bite their fingers.. who gave
award to this software ?'

'have a similar problem. the 2009 works perfect. but when i load the 2010
upgrade, the system starts to load then reboots. this goes into a loop and
does not stop. i even loaded a clean install of xp. loaded ti 2009 and
updated to 2010. same thing. i have tried everything i know. been working on
computers for 25 years and ever once in a while run into problems. guess i
will keep the 2009...works perfect, unless someone else has the same issue.
if there is a fix, please share.
thanks'

'True Image Home 2010 hangs on backup. After I've checked the partiction to
be stored, I have to proceed and specify the file. When I click Next, the
program hangs forever (see attached). Running it under Vista Pro. Any ideas?
I simply can't use it...'
It normally shouldn't matter, but if it were me, I'd do the
installation after the upgrade, just in case.
> Moving a lot of files around on your computer will increase the size of
> your
> system volume information folder.
>
> What many people don't know that by defragging, either manually or
> continuously as DisKeeper now does, any incremental images created by a
> program like Acronis True Image will be as large, or larger, than the
> initial image. An incremental image should only show the changed disk
> status. But, when you change 74% of the file locations on a disk by
> defragging the image becomes huge.
>
> This is why I always turn off system restore and shadow copy when I
> load a
> new operating system. I rely upon True Image to get me out of hot
> water.
> > > Hello.
> > > I have a big problem with the windows Shadow Copy.
> > >
> > > \System Volume
> > >
> > Information\{a20e83b4-d2e1-11de-970d-001e8c98772a}{3808876b-c176-4e48-b7ae-04046e6cc752}
> > >
> > > The file is 34 GB.
> > > With my HD size I simply can't afford it!
> > >
> > > My Vista Home Premium is working perfect, I don't even need system
> > > restore points right now, and I take full responsibility saying that
> > in
> > > case anything crashes, I wouldn't even mind starting over fresh and
> > > having that 34GB back would be a better solution that to live with it
> > > right now.
> > >
> > > I tried Disk Cleanup, which said it could remove all but the newest
> > > shadow copies, and it didn't remove that file. Which means its a new
> > > file? I don't know.
> > >
> > > I'm quite sure it was caused by the defragmentation program that I
> > used
> > > "Diskeeper" that maybe somehow made that file a whole lot bigger, I
> > > stopped using it and the file doesn't grow anymore. I believe it grew
> > > from 20GB to 34GB just after letting Diskeeper run on Auto
> > > Defragmentation, and I couldn't risk it making it any bigger.
> > >
> > > Any help will be appreciated!
> > > Thanks.
> When I got my Vista Business laptop in spring I had a lot of problems
> accessing folders which I'd transferred over from my previous laptop which
> was running XP, and I kept getting messages to say I did not have
> permission
> to open the folder (or something like that) even though I am the only user
> of
> the Vista machine (as I was on the XP machine) and I have administrator
> rights in Vista.
>
> I'd like to know if my folder structure is like that of other Vista users
> or
> if I've got some irregularities there which are still causing indexing,
> search and access issues.
>
> For example, if I click on 'Start' (the Windows logo button or key), then
> click the 'Documents' link under [My name ] (at the top of the right-hand
> column, in black), Windows Explorer opens and in the address line at the
> top
> it says > [My Name] > Documents. In the left-hand pane, 'Documents' is
> highlighted and in the right-hand pane, sure enough, I can see all the
> sub-folders of 'Documents' (i.e. what was 'My Documents' in XP). BUT if I
> scroll up to the top of the left-hand pane and click [My Name], in the
> right-hand pane I then see a number of folders, but Documents is not one
> of
> them. I know by trial and error that to get to 'Documents' from here, I
> have
> to click on a folder in the right-hand pane called 'Links', then click on
> a
> SHORTCUT to Documents in the Links folder, to get me to the 'Documents'
> folder. Is this the same for everyone?
>
> Another possibly related example is that when I use Windows Picture
> Gallery,
> I simply can't add any pictures to the Gallery from 'my' Pictures, I've
> had
> to put them all in the Public Pictures folder to be able to view them
> using
> Gallery. (Using Windows Live Picture Gallery makes no difference). I get
> a
> message saying I don't have permission to access 'my' Pictures folder or
> that
> it's a system folder.
>
> I'm obviously not understanding something, so I'd be grateful for help or
> pointers to more reading.

> Hi, Gene.
>
> When all else fails...Command Prompt! Using the modern equivalents of the
> ancient MS-DOS commands.
>
> At a Command Prompt:
> Dir C:\*.eml /s /a
>
> This starts at the Root of Drive C: and lists all the files that have the
> .eml extension, no matter how deep they may be in a directory tree and no
> matter what Attributes may have been set. If there is an .eml file on C:
> (even in the Recycle Bin), this will list it. If C: is a big drive with
> lots of files, it may take a while.
>
> If your WLM Message Store is there, you may see a very long list of every
> email you ever got. But you can revise that Dir command to fine-tune your
> search. Type Dir /? to see a mini-Help file that lists all the switches
> and parameters available with that command - just like for any command in
> a Command Prompt window.
>
> For email programs other than WM or WLM, but you may need to search for
> .dbx (OE) or .pst (Outlook) or some other extension. I don't have much
> experience with Outlook and my memory of OE and WM is fading fast. And I
Many thanks for the help. I am an old timer who is very familiar with the C

Is there a way to retrieve DACLs for offline files (client-side cached)
when the client is not connected to the server?

When I call GetSecurityInfo or GetNamedSecurityInfo for such files, the
call returns ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED (50). Similarly, those files have no
"Security" tab in the Properties dialog.

I looked at the Offline Files COM APIs
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...92(VS.85).aspx) , but I
couldn't find anything about file security. Those APIs only report file
attributes.

I noticed that if I do not have write permissions to a file, then I
cannot write to it even when the file is offline, so those security
settings must sit somewhere.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
After I wrote my post, I had a rethink and found a way which is simple
and which works.

1) Run a search in the folder(s) where the files in the subfolders are
located. Eg search for *.pdf. Check the box for searching in subfolders.

2) Copy all the files that show up in the search results box and move
them to a new folder.

3) Delete all the files in the original folders, again selecting them
from the search results box.

Done!
it. If it doesn't solve the problem, get rid of Norton anyway. Norton is
known to cause many problems which don't always appear immediately.
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool.
> Hi,
>
> When I right-click on the desktop or within the Documents Folder (or
> similar folders), I no longer have the option to create a "New Folder".
> When I choose the "New" option, it reads "empty". I saw someone had a
> similar problem on here and they were given a registry fix to download
> and merge, which I did, but it did not help me. When I am in the
> Documents Folder, I do have the "Organize" option and can do it from
> there, but that doesn't help me to create New Folders on the desktop.
>
> Thank you in advance for your time and any help you might be able to
