Computer found updates

When I first activated windows I had just bought a computer and decided to
just take the hard drive out and use it in my old one (which is pretty brand
new) it was just dropped and the hard drive fried. When I activated windows
I used the product key of the new one I just bought which is a Dell instead
of the one I put it in which is an Emachines. So all the drivers were not
loaded. So I went and had network adapters added and got in. Well it showed
a list of automatic updates which I did install. Now my system hangs and
reboots itself. I can get in by going to safe mode with networking but
cannot download anything or put anything on disk. Is there a way to
reactivate windows in my emachines and get everything back to where I need it
to be? Or am I going to have to buy a cd? By the way I have tried to do a
system restore before the downloads but it says it cannot restore it.

Did you open Internet Explorer by *right* clicking it's shortcut on the
Start Menu and choosing 'Run as administrator' ?

When you connect the camera to your PC using USB cable, Windows 7 should
detect it automatically. You'll see a new drive letter assigned to your
camera flash memory card. Another way is to remove the compact flash memory
card and use a memory card reader to transfer data/photos to your PC.

Was able to download all of the other previous failed downloads, but this
one. Do not receive any kind of error message, other than it tells me
download failed to install. Not sure how to get this one to install
successfully. Thanks for any and all comments.

Which firewall, anti-virus, anti-spyware or security suite is installed?
There are some that cause problems which don't always appear immediately.

Recently had a crash. I used the restore disks to put back to factory
settings. I can not do any updates. The computer kept restarting. It is an
AMD 2500. 1 gig memory. I went to HP.com and downloaded some updated drives
and tried again. This time it runs to the compag desktop screen and the mouse
moves but nothing on desktop. I just restored again and will wait till I get
some expert help. Any thought please let me know.

Try installing the optional updates first then the other updates should
install just fine.
I had the same three updates:

and an optional update for my DELL monitor; as soon as i updated the DELL

Hi Sir,

I have tried the method as mentioned by you,
1. Open an Administrator command prompt by right clicking on Start -> All
Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt and selecting "Run as
Administrator" and clicking "Allow" for the elevation prompt
2. In the command prompt, type the command below
fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\
(This assumes that C: is the drive in which Vista is installed. If it is
installed on another drive like D:, please change the drive letter
appropriately)
3. Reboot the machine

However, same problem still persists, the problem whereby the download
doesnt start and it says windows cant check for updates, etc. So is there
like any other solutions to this problem cause it has been bothering me for a
real long time.

Never, EVER use System Restore to "undo" an update, Service Pack, or IE
upgrade! Intead, uninstall the update, Service Pack, or IE upgrade &
reboot. If that doesn't correct the problem, then try System Restore.
