Hi, REALLY hoping someone can help me here before I go stir-crazzzy!!!!
I loaded Noton 360 3.0 security a few days ago and after 3 days with no internet access was informed to uninstall the application completly and reboot my system
From samsung recovery solution II I carried out the Basic Restore and restored it to an earlier date, which...halliluyah!!!...worked and i now have internet access....but....
Problem...Its still in Safe Mode ( black screen with "safe mode" in each corner) so everythin on the screen is "supersized" as if its on zoom, which ive checked...several times and its not!!! The toolbar, web pages, even start up screen is all HUGE txt and overfills the screen
Is there any hope of getting my computer back to normal?????
...its my lifeline!!!

Hello. I have a question. I need to know the reason why one of my cores (Core 2) is running about 3-4 degrees below the temperatures of the other 3 cores on my Intel Core 2 Q9550 Quad processor. Restarting and rebooting seems not to help, it is always the same core with the lower temperature. Is there something wrong with that particular core or something overly defective with the processor itself??? It rarely ever fluctuates and stays at 33 degrees Celsius. The other core temperatures are around 36-38 degrees at rest/idle and do frequently go up when an action is performed on the computer. I began a few days ago, and now for the last few days it is at 33 degrees.

Please let me know what is going on with this consistent lower core 2 temperature and please provide me with a reason why this is happening. Is it something that is beginning to die with this processor? Is there anything that can be done about it to get all four (4) core temperatures in balance.

Thank you!

I am running Windows XP Professional with SP3. I have an ASUS a7v600 with the 1009-005 BIOS update (the last update for that model). It says in the BIOS, the documentation, and through tech support that it is ACPI compliant. But the Vista installer claims my motherboard --isn't--. ASUS tech support said maybe it was just too old to communicate properly with Vista, being a 6-year-old board. But I just don't have the cash to buy a new motherboard, and I'm pretty sure none of the newer boards will support an AMD 2600+ (it's socket 7), so I'd have to get a new processor, too.

I've looked all over to find a fix, and so far have come up with nothing. Maybe someone here knows of a patch or dll I can use? Better yet, does anybody have any aspirin?

Oh, how I miss the days of simple, flexible computing, where if your hardware didn't support it, the OS simply didn't enable that option.

At this rate, I'll have to drop over a grand just to run the darn thing, and then, the only reason not to buy 7 would be because I just shelled out so much for Vista.

Why, Microsoft? Why?

Hi All,

I've got a new Acer laptop and I've just noticed on it that I have a phantom CD Drive (E) - it shows up in explorer, but not in disk management, so I can't switch the association to be able to use "E".

This is a bit of a problem for me as on my previous laptop E was one of my external drives, which has all of my itunes music and it won't find any of it unless I can reassign this drive to E on this new laptop.

I've searched for solutions to this but I can't find anything and it's driving me nuts!! :)

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks,

Claire

Just come back from holiday and problems with the computer started straight away.
Were playing a game when the picture froze. Had to press the reset button as the computer started to make an loud noise. After that the resolution changed and I am not able to change it. In device manager I get this message below under my graphic card, NVIDIA 8500 GT

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I reloaded Windows Vista and it was working again. But only after a day when I was watching a DVD the picture froze again, same problem again. Unable to change the resolution and cant do anything about window has stopped the program. I have tried new drivers from NVIDIA site but no success.
It feels like I can't reload Vista everytime as the computer seems to be unstable.
Any help for this problem or is the graphics card faulty.
