Microsoft update fails with 0x8024402F error

That equates to an HTTP 400 error. (In general 0x8019xxxx seems
to equate to the corresponding HTTP code in decimal.)

HTTP 400 can be due to a setup error on the client side.
E.g. some hosts give that when the client is set to connect with HTTP 1.0
only but they want it to be HTTP 1.1.

Hmm... telnet shows that www.update.microsoft.com doesn't care
if HTTP/1.0 is requested; it returns HTTP/1.1 anyway. That might upset
a proxy I suppose. ; )

I know this was mentioned previously (Subject: Re: MS Update Catalog,
security bulletins not searchable?), but I am wondering what can be done
about it: the feedback email (mucatsu@microsoft.com)on the Microsoft Update
Catalog website (http://catalog.update.microsoft.com/...e/Support.aspx)
bounces. It would be really nice to be able to send emails to the Microsoft
Update Catalog people.. Or should we be posting everything intended for them
here instead?

Supported Update IDs

What are the "Supported Update IDs" that appear on the Package Details page
in the (v7) Microsoft Update Catalog? When looking at their pages, they all
appear to be the same version with the same download file, is there a reason
I should use one over another?

As noted in this forum in the thread "WARNING: Update 969947 may prohibit
establishment of an RDP session on Windows XP" from 11/10/2009, Windows XP
may freeze during login in an RDP session. Some users noted that there is a
Known Issue (as described in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/969947)
involving the ATI Radeon HD 2400 series video adapter. However, the test
system on which I had this problem has an nVidia GeForce 7050/ nVidia nForce
610i integrated on a Biostar GF7050V-M7 motherboard. However, it's video
driver was not the latest.

Taking a cue from the problem with the ATI hardware, I removed the nVidia
video driver, rebooted, and installed the newest driver available from the
nVidia site (v191.07). That solved the problem with the 969947 update. I
can now log in via RDP normally.

I guess you could say that this issue is now "Known", too.

Try downloading the updates and installing them manually. Also some users
have reported that if you have an Office program open, e.g., Outlook, then
the updates install correctly.

I have about 11 Dell Optiplex 755's at a client site. Luckily the
computers arent freezing at this point but we have been having major
RDP issues. I have one employee at this site who uses SBS 2003 RWW to
access her computer remotely and obvioously she cant work now! I have
tried the above fix with no success but these Dell's are the same as
some of the above posts. I am going to try again today but if I have
to I will rebuild the workstations one by one and then block this
update!!

Where are KB968929 and KB960568 Downloads?

When content is published on MU it can come through the following
distribution channels:

- Site/AU
- Catalog
- WSUS

It is likely this content is not published on catalog but is available for
Site/AU and WSUS.
