I have the option to uninstall but not to repair it. I know that there is a reg key that can be changed to add this option but can't remember which one or where it is!!

Not all program installers have a repair option. The repair option is not going to appear unless the installer has one. Acrobat Reader, for instance, gives you the option to repair; Sony Sound Forge does not. Do all programs lack the repair option, or just one? Just reinstall the program.
