Converting Analogue Video to DVD

Can anyone help with what may be the best program to use for converting video tapes to DVD. I used a Belkin product Hi-Speed 2.0 USB DVD creator and could not get this to work properly with Vista. Is there a good program that is best for Vista. I just want to convert old family tapes to DVD's.
