How can I download FREE DVD copy software for copy-protected DVDs?

I'm just looking to make back-up copies of some of my DVDs, but the software I have is crap. Be good to get better for free!! Also, is it possible to play a movie on your pc, pause it, and then copy that image to desktop background? Not had computer for long! Not sure of all the tricks!

DVD Smith is freeware and is great if you just copy DVD to your hard drive. For DVD to DVD copying, I recommended Movie DVD Copy. It is a pretty good DVD Copy program that rip protected DVDs. I've been using it all the time and never miss backing up a DVD. These two software can be found at Movie DVD Copy website

I advise you to use Blu-Ray & DVD Decrypter! I've tried this software. Frankly speaking I was agreeably surprised how it works - everything is clearly without help. The program works quickly, without any problems.
In one word - it's very simple in using, but it has a lot of funcions which help you in ripping or burning DVD!
