Apparently YOU permitted Vista to download and/or install something it
didn't know, which sort of defeats the purpose of Defender since it is
suppose to be some crude malware blocker/firewall defense. If that's
what you did, and it was a virus, worm or trojan, likely whatever
damage it could do was already done. If you have a anti-virus, malware
program run it and see what it says. Chances are it is nothing to
worry about... but you never know.
